OpenSource investigations related to conflicts could have great potential in Northern Ireland too, Yet many members of normal security forces had not even heard of the most famous example of this BellingCat, or understand why even though with Its office in largely terrorist free Leicester, switched on local police have spoke to some of its members about their protection. That relates to BellingCat's interest in Russian matters. Including a string of assassinations made to look like accidental deaths.
Just as extremists like Sinn Fein IRA in Northern and Southern Ireland use social media and nasty media activists (like Roy Greenslade and others posing as professional journalists to target their critics) OpenSource efforts like BellingCat have been constantly slurred in the direct and indirect propaganda media of the Russian dictatorship. However they've been widely praised by agencies and international security experts. Although OpenSource lacks many of the resources of security services or intelligence agencies, they also have major advantages for investigations, Such as the ability to quickly bring together dynamic teams (subsets of individuals with specific, skills experiences local knowledge and language etc..)
Security teams will often be limited to fixed staff, Not to mention teams being restricted in other ways which plague civil service organizations . Obstacles to better teamwork/

The PPS and PONI have some how been locking individuals into destructive damaging investigations and presenting cases before the courts which should never have made if through their own evidence and public interest guidelines, while a string of cases involving those with links to the IRA and its political wing take very different paths. (Lengthy court processes take a toll on lives, and having opponents of extremism being unfairly hounded by an authority behaving like that is much worse)

1.Not raising public awareness of the anti-religious anti-Western nature players running the semi-parallel Marxist National Socialists tactically exploiting divisions along religious lines for political ends. (Charging Hate Energy) we still have large Christian populations .
Raising vigilance on not only the historical and recent anti-western but anti-religious nature of those managing extremist fronts and terrorism could have great value. But despite attempts to encourage that, so far the opportunities remain missed as provocative agitation and deception continues largely unopposed charging hate energy
2. Not raising awareness on or tackling the disastrously undeterred essential organised components of radicalisation. Fronts, Activists, Terrorist Recruitment, Propaganda Production and promotions etc. In dictator assisted Marxist political Warfare, repetitive Ancestral Grievance Propaganda is used to promote the illusions of Prime Victimhood. providing the essential passive and active support.
3.. Provocative agitation & violence are used to provoke/bait reactionary violence
3a. From the perspective of core Marxists, (Cult idiots fixated on simplistic targets of blame and hate) those cruel destructive tactics are justified for so-called Revolution.
3b.From the perspective of dictators overtly elevating extremists or covertly running liaison interfacing operations, Useful Idiot extremists are useful in adding a burden or tying up defence resources in target populations. The recent efforts in ramping up such activities had been detected years ago!
UK security failures and the need for urgent restructuring
Example attempts in 2014/15 to get resourced security teams to look closer at open source data and methods which were providing indications that much closer attention was needed on Russian assisted election interference in the Scottish referendum alongside worrying networking activities with links to an array of anti-western extremists

Another attempt was made to request paying closer attention to the reckless use of Marxist Nazi Style Fronts activists and provocative agitation to exploit divisions in political campaigns targeting Northern Ireland and Scotland (Reckless dangerous undeterred radicalisation) Again the agency didn't follow up on details which may have been useful on Russian linked anti-Western fronts interfacing with domestic players.
In a later attempt a request was made to a front end staffer to pass detail on to a team with good knowledge on Subversion.. The reply was, "Subversion, what's that?" Subversion happens to be something every staffer involved in defending democracy should not only know about, but have an in-depth understanding of its components, role in destruction, radicalisation, murder and mayhem... But some how that staffer had no concept of that....
When Intelligence assets of Putin's dictatorship were discovered to have been interfacing with UK Marxist networks 2014/15, who in turn had links to an array of anti-western so-called revolutionary terrorist networks.
